Lara Agung

Lara Lee was born in Sydney, Australia to a Chinese-Indonesian father and an Australian mother. She is now based in London, where she works as a chef, caterer and food writer. She was inspired to write Coconut & Sambal to trace her Indonesian heritage and learn traditional family recipes that have been passed down through the generations. She trained at Leiths School of Food and Wine and also runs an event catering business called Kiwi and Roo, serving delicious food to high profile guests and venues that include the royal family, the Australian prime minister, the Natural History Museum and the Royal Academy of Arts. She also holds supper clubs that celebrate her heritage with both Australian and Indonesian cuisine all over London. Coconut & Sambal is her first cookbook, which will be released on 14th May 2020 by Bloomsbury Publishing.

Regular work

I founded catering company Kiwi & Roo in 2016, which caters corporate and private events all over London. I have spent the last 2.5 years researching, recipe testing and writing Coconut & Sambal, which is my debut cookbook on Indonesian cuisine and family recipes.
