Briony Williams

After years of baking at home and cultivating my creativity and skill, I first came to the public’s attention during nine stressful weeks in the tent on the 2018 series of The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4. I returned to the famous tent in 2019 to compete in, and win, The Great Christmas Bake Off.

I have since developed recipes for brands such as Cuisinart, Dr Oetker, KitchenAid, Yeo Valley, Good Food, Asda and Nescafé. I regularly feature on BBC One’s Morning Live as one of their resident chefs. I perform food demos and host chef stages at multiple, renowned festivals across the UK including CarFest. I am also one of the presenters of BBC One’s Escape to the Country and Channel 4’s Food Unwrapped.

I have recently released my first cookbook, The Retro Recipe Society, which is your invitation to celebrate the timeless charm of classic cooking - only this time there’s a twist. Inside, you will find 50 irresistible recipes that celebrate the classics you remember (and a few you may have forgotten), alongside clever, modern updates that make them ready for today’s table. It was published by Found.us in the UK and the US.

My passion for retro recipes sprouted from a vintage cookbook I found in a second hand bookshop that has now developed into a sizable and variable collection of over 50 quirky classics. I am happiest cooking in the kitchen with my daughter, Nora, aged 10, who is becoming quite the young baker.
