Yuki Gomi is a Japanese chef, cookery writer and author of Sushi at Home, published by Penguin. Her new book, Oishii, will be published by Quarto in March 2027.
Raised near Mount Fuji in Yamanashi, Japan, Yuki grew up surrounded by her family’s home-grown produce and a strong food culture. She trained at Le Cordon Bleu in Chicago before returning to Japan, where she studied traditional Japanese cooking techniques with master chefs.
In 2005, Yuki moved to the UK and founded Yuki’s Kitchen, a popular cookery school in London. She teaches simple, healthy Japanese food, combining traditional techniques with fresh, accessible British ingredients.
Her relaxed and practical approach shows that Japanese cooking can easily become part of everyday life, from quick weeknight meals to more special occasions and elegant dinner parties.
Yuki lives in South London with her husband, an architect, and their daughter. Through her Substack, Japanese Food. Simply., she shares approachable Japanese recipes, food stories and the traditions that inspire her cooking.
