Sukhmani Pantal

My name is Sukhmani (Suki) Pantal, author of Garnish with Garam Masala, my debut cookbook released by Found in May this year.

I have also been commissioned by Nourish Books to write my second cookbook, set to be released in December 2025. An advance with regard to writing the cookbook has been paid to me at the start of this year.

In addition to my work as an author, I am a food columnist for Worcester News and Malvern Gazette, where I explore Indian regional cuisines, decode Indian spices, and share my own recipes and cooking tips. I am also the founder of Suki’s Curries and Spices based in Worcestershire, running private virtual cookery classes as a culinary teacher and advocate of traditional India cooking. Furthermore, I conduct cookery demonstration at the kitchen theatres at food festivals across the UK. Some of those festivals include, The Game Fair, Three Counties Food Festival, Ludlow Food Festival, Cheltenham Food Festival, Shrewsbury Food Festival amongst others. I am also a speaker at business events and women’s networking forums.

In 2022, I participated in The Great Cookbook Challenge with Jamie Oliver on Channel 4 where I pitched my cookbook idea to the judges. The experience was a turning point in my culinary journey that gave me the confidence to write my debut cookbook.

Born in India and raised in New Delhi, my upbringing was steeped in the diverse flavours of Indian cuisine, which now reflect in my culinary work. I love to cook, teach, and write about the diverse regional recipes from India, showcasing the country’s culinary diversity.

My debut book encapsulates my belief that sharing a recipe is akin to sharing a culture. My passion lies in bringing the rich history of Indian cuisine to curry enthusiasts, serving as a culinary ambassador and storyteller of Indian culture through food!

Presently sold 373 GWGM cookbooks in the UK and USA.

I live in picturesque and hilly Malvern in Worcestershire with my husband.
