New Member: Alissa Timoshkina

Alissa is a food writer, cookery teacher, podcast host and an advocate for maternal wellbeing. Originally from Siberia, she’s been living in the UK for over 20 years. After completing a PhD in Soviet film history, and a brief stint in the academia and cultural events production, Alissa founded a cinema-supper club, KinoVino, in 2015, which rapidly became a monthly landmark event in East London. Her debut cookbook Salt and Time: recipes from a Russian kitchen came out in 2019 celebrating her culinary heritage and offering a refreshing take on Russian cuisine; the book was a finalist for the Guild’s International or Regional Cookbook Award (in partnership with Maple from Canada) in 2020. Alissa hosts MotherFood, a podcast with mothers who forged inspiring careers in food, and offers online cooking classes and courses focusing on maternal wellbeing and nutrition. She’s currently working on her second cookbook.
