Jane Suthering (27/06/2011)

Congratuations to Joseph Wigley, aged 11 from Somerset who has won this year's WriteIt! competition with his delightful piece - Mad about Marrows.

This is the fourth year that the Guild has run WriteIt! which is open to entrants aged up to 18 years old, who are required to write a 750-word descriptive piece based on any food related subject.

The judges, Karen Barnes (editor of delicious), Matthew Fort (food writer for The Guardian) and Bee Wilson (author and food columnist for The Sunday Telegraph's Stella magazine), thought he wrote beautifully and gave charming descriptions in his original and colourful piece.

Joseph has won a laptop, as well as the opportunity to have his entry printed in delicious, so look out for the November issue.

The judges also highly commended Aisha Abdel-Samie, aged 9, from Ellsmere Port, Kathryn Espino, aged 14, from London and Andrew Carrick, aged 14 from County Armagh.
