Chosen from over 200 entrants and also a finalist in last year’s competition, Anamay impressed the team of judges with his menu of succulent spice roasted lamb chops served on a delicious sweet potato bubble and squeak cake with a mint and pea jelly and raspberry foam. For dessert, Anamay created an impressive chocolate basket, filled with a mint cream, and a pistachio tuille basket, filled with mango cream.

Anamay was one of six finalists who rose to the challenge to create their Dream Meal in the CookIt! final held on 10 June. With remarkable calm, confidence and cooking skill, Carla, Freya, Robbie, Elliot, Rex and Anamay recreated their winning dishes at the test kitchen of BBC Good Food magazine.

BBC Good Food logoUnder the scrutiny of our guest judges, comprising Valentine Warner, Stefan Gates and BBC Good Food’s Deputy Food Editor, Sarah Cook, the six finalists had 1½ hours to prepare their winning main meal and dessert, with each dish judged on its taste, presentation and originality. The judging team were genuinely impressed with the level of skill, creativity and contagious enthusiasm for cooking shown by the finalists, and found it a challenging task to select three overall winners.

Second Prize Winner Robbie Main
In second place, came Robbie Main (pictured above), aged 13 from Lincolnshire (and incidentally last year’s winner), who cooked a ballotine of pheasant with braised red cabbage, spiced carrot puree and potato foam. This was followed by passion fruit delice with mango and star anise sorbet and fruit sherbet.

Third Prize Winner Rex Fisher
Rex Fisher (pictured above), aged 12 from Dorset, came third with his menu of poached mackerel pockets, followed by a highly original cinnamon porridge ice cream with honey. The mackerel was cooked in seawater, a container of which was collected by Rex from his local beach and accompanied him to the London cook-off.

Elliot Bryant with his Dish of the Day
Elliot Bryant (pictured above), aged 11 from Surrey, won the prize for Dish of the Day with his incredibly light banana and cinnamon soufflé with sticky toffee sauce and pistachio cream.

Anamay is the lucky winner of a four-night stay for a family of four at Bocaddon Farm, Lanreath, Looe, Cornwall (www.bocaddon.com). The prize also includs a tour of Nick Barclay’s Blue Plate restaurant and a hamper on arrival at Bocaddon Farm (www.blueplatecornwall.com and www.food4myholiday.com).

For second prize, Robbie and three friends will get the chance to attend a Gastronuts workshop with Stefan Gates.

The judges also congratulated runners up Carla Overton, aged 13 from Derbyshire, and Freya Blount, aged 13 from Cheshire, who received Lakeland’s new My Kitchen stick blender and Good Housekeeping’s Step-by-Step Cookbook. Good Food magazine also offered a year’s subscription to all six finalists.

A fantastic day was had by all and it’s wonderfully inspiring to see such talent, and exciting to see, in the words of judge Stefan Gates, '…so much talent coming up to take our jobs!'
