The auditory challenges of pub culture were rather to the fore in the otherwise welcoming and comfortable basement room of the Bbar, near Victoria Station. The Bbar's kitchen, for its part, made a brave effort to meet the challenges we set, producing plentiful canapés of salmon and smoked carp as guests chatted jovially over the clink of glasses.
