Debra Jones

I am a Nutrition and Health Research Scientist with the University of Manchester, and a Registered Public Health Nutritionist with The Association for Nutrition (https://www.linkedin.com/in/debra-jones-rnutr-msc-90b86436/). I have eight years experience working in academic settings on clinical trials and community health initiatives. I am also a qualified chef, food writer, photographer and stylist. I manage and continually develop my own food blog at www.properfoodie.com. ProperFoodie brings together and streamlines home cooking, healthy eating and the enjoyment of food. Recipes are created around a balanced and nutritious diet and are all presented on a user-friendly platform. I produce, cook and photograph my recipes from scratch as well as producing editorials, advertising content, recipe videos, and nutritional content tables. I pride myself in providing my audience with nutritionally balanced, easy to cook recipes along with informative and friendly information. Since launching in 2015 my website has had over 304K page views from across 150 countries. Monthly the blog is receiving around 22K page views from over 9.3K unique visitors and is demonstrating an upward trend. My current focus is on improving my photography and writing skills so that I may gain further experience in publications beyond my own website.

Regular work

I work part time with the University of Manchester where I have been involved in the writing of Cochrane Reviews and several journal articles, I have also achieved first-author publication. I also work regularly with a local media company to produce healthy recipe videos, which are aired each month on TV screens in over 500 UK gyms. I have also published nutrition articles and recipes in UK food magazines, including Free From Heaven and Vegan Food and Living. I have also worked with numerous brands (including: Atkins, Sarsons, Vale of Mowbray, Allergy and free from show, Ocado, Bettys, and Hello Fresh) to develop recipes, produce recipe videos, photograph food, carry out nutritional analysis, cook for live audiences, and provide product reviews and blog content. Payment for some of these has been a monetary value, as whereas others have been a product gift or in exchange for promotion/exposure.
