An unexpected effect of the pandemic is an increase in home cooking, according to a new report from The Food Standards Agency. The data shows that over the last year, people have bought more locally, cooked at home more and 78% of people support the UK keeping its food standards. There has also been an increase in food insecurity, however, most people agree it is the government’s responsibility to make sure no-one goes hungry. Read more…

The European Food Information Council have created a lovely interactive map of seasonal fruit and vegetables from across Europe, which provides a simple educational tool to understand what’s in season and when. Morrisons has pledged to be the first supermarket to be supplied by net zero carbon farms by 2030, five years ahead of the market. The supermarket is also building a school of sustainable farming, working with the National Farmers Union, universities, vets and more to build programme that supports net zero farming for all of their suppliers.
