Event Information

Silver Darlings – Rediscovering the Herring
Guild members CJ Jackson and Mike Warner present an evening celebrating this forgotten, but historically important and nutritious food.

UK Herring stocks are abundant and sustainable and yet have fallen off the radar for our consumers. The ultimate ‘superfood,’ herring fisheries have established and supported coastal communities for generations, yet are now much neglected and overlooked, as more popular, imported species constitute 80% of our consumption and deny our fishermen an important seasonal opportunity.

Mike (above) and CJ are on a mission to rekindle the nation’s love for this ‘King of the Sea’ and will demonstrate the simplicity, value and flavour of the herring in its many forms.
