Colonsay Food Festival

I was invited to the island of Colonsay off the west coast of Scotland by Jane Howard who organises several festivals on the island; this one was based on food and I provided two events one a cooking demonstration – using local fish and one a workshop where I had six attendees all cooking from my vegetable cookbooks. Both events were a great success and the island is a walkers’ and wildlife paradise. Jane would like to encourage writers and cooks to come; there is no fee but your ferry and accommodation are all covered – so it makes a lovely break. It might also give you ideas for work. There is a superb Oyster farm on the island and some of the best honey I have ever tasted (a closed colony of black bees). Have a look at the website and email her jane@colonsayholidays.co.uk. Please get in touch with me if you would like to ask any other questions (ct@christophertrotter.co.uk).

The dates for the 2019 Festival are Wednesday 9 to Wednesday 23 October. In general, they would like to get the message out to the “food and drink” market that this is a high quality festival that is worth coming to Colonsay for.
