Guild of Beer Writers Event: Beer Meets Food in Bristol
Wednesday 13 June 2018, 11am to 4pm
Wild Beer at Wapping Wharf
Units 6-8 Gaol Ferry Steps
Bristol BS1 6WE
Beer and food matching is becoming more common throughout the land. But how does it work, and could the trend spread further? The British Guild of Beer Writers is teaming up with the leaders in the field to give you the lowdown at its Beer Meets Food seminar in Bristol in June.
The host, Wild Beer Co at its Wapping Wharf restaurant, will put theory into practice at lunch time. Co-founder Andrew Cooper and chef Matthew Young will match five dishes illustrating the five taste sensations: bitter, umami, sweet, salty and sour. Other speakers include Melissa Cole, Guild member Fiona Beckett, Tim Webb, Martin Booth and Justin Wylde. Coinciding with Bristol Food Connections, a week-long city-wide celebration, the day will conclude with a guided walk around some of Bristol’s top beer haunts, as highlighted in Tim Webb’s recently published Bristol Craft Beer Map.
Cost to Guild members: £15, to include lunch and beers; to reserve a place or find out more, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
